BACK STREET (Kenneth Harper Finton and Fred
Martin) Published by HT Music, BMI
Sweet Carolina
Lee was a lonely girl who could not wait to play in a grown up world. Then one day she ran away from her Daddy's mansion.
She couldn't wait to get away, looking for some action. There is a back street in every city. (What's going down there sure
ain't pretty.) With every stranger, there is a danger. (Take your money and leave you lying there.) You meet the user, you
find the losers. (People hurt by their past abusers.) And as you wonder, it sweeps you under. (Hell lies in wait for all who
blunder there.) Some say that all things come to those who wait. Some say the early bird is the one who ate. Back street folk,
they have no views: they grab whatever passes. Carolina had no chance. They found her broken glasses. Sweet Carolina, don't
you hear it calling! Sweet Carolina, don't you hear it calling!
SO MANY TIMES (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published by HT Music, BMI
Take my hand now, it's all right. I'll wipe the tears from both your eyes.
You ask too much of me, it's true, you do. I'm human too just like you. So many times, so many times I've held you. So many
times, so many times you closed the door. What for? Is it really such a chore to be a wife? And when it's all too much inside,
may you find your strut and stride. I ask too much of you, it's true, I do. I'm human too, just like you. So many times, so
many times I've held you. So many times, so many times you closed the door. What for? Is it really such a chore to be a wife?
RUN, ROBIN, RUN (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published
by HT Music, BMI
A hot
sun was burning on the twenty-fifth day of June. Robin had a nickel left from trying to peddle his tunes. He was walking down
the streets of L.A., looking for a place to play. I know he needed money, but he didn't let it get in the way. Two men stopped
him and he knew that something was wrong. He only had a nickel and his pack and his original songs. When one man pulled a
gun, it glinted in the midday sun, and Robin felt a quiver like a big cold river come on. Run, Robin, run, Robin, run, Robin,
run! Don't stand still in the sights of a gun. Fly, Robin, fly, Robin, fly, Robin, fly! You know you're gonna make it if you
try, Robin, try! Adrenaline was pumping as he looked into that old forty-four. Nothing seemed to matter, not the future nor
the minute before. He knew they had moment to spare. He said, "Friend, you know I want to be fair. I've got no money, but
I've got a little tune we can share." Run, Robin, run, Robin, run, Robin, run! Don't stand still in the sights of a gun. Fly,
Robin, fly, Robin, fly, Robin, fly! You know you're gonna make it if you try, Robin, try! The one said to the other as Robin
showed no signs of fear: "Either this dude's crazy, or I'm gonna buy him a beer." I guess it only goes to show, you really
really never know, we need a whole lot of loving and a lot less shoving 'round here. Run, Robin, run, Robin, run, Robin, run!
Don't stand still in the sights of a gun. Fly, Robin, fly, Robin, fly, Robin, fly! You know you're gonna make it if you try,
Robin, try!
DO I? (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published by HT Music, BMI
Do I take some time each day remembering that it will be all right? Do I find that lonesome hours can frighten
me, uptighten me inside? Oh, my. Do I, do I, do I fear myself? Do I, do I, do I fear myself? It's plain enough, plain to
see, plain enough what's good for me, but do I, do I, do I hear my voice? Do I, do I, do I hear my voice? Each act is so important
when the world is very small. My fantasies return to me, in time it's clear to all. Do we, do we, do we will ourselves? Do
we, do we, do we will ourselves? To face a lonely day with love and not lose faith that light's above, I will, I will, I will,
I will myself. Will, I will, I will, I will myself.
DEEP DOWN INSIDE (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published by HT Music, BMI
There are enough ears to hear truth spoken, we've come too many years
to let it be broken, both you and I. Where there are jewels, somebody has to take them and where there are rules, somebody
has to break them, either you or I. Listen, try to make the tarnish to glisten. Listen, listen to the voices of wisdom. Deep
down inside, who do you hide? Deep down inside.
HIGH-HEELED SHOES Published by HT Music,
BMI
I know her she lives
upstairs. I hear a moaning in the night. We have not been introduced, but I have seen her many times. She leaves in the morning
in her high-heeled shoes and she comes back home to her high-tech room. She chats with a woman that she's never met; she bares
her soul on the internet. I have seen her on the stairs. She smiles politely as I pass. Every time I spoke with her she's
in a hurry to get past. She leaves in the morning in her high-heeled shoes and she comes back home to her high-tech room.
She chats with a woman that she's never met, she bares her soul on the internet. I know what I've got to do, we 've got to
meet electrically. Get inside the picture tube, and we can all live happily, happily, happily, happily.
FORGIVE YOURSELF (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published by HT Music, BMI
You yourself are one with this miracle of life. You yourself create all your misery and strife.
Don't blame it on another, it all within you dwells. Can you come to discover all is well within yourself? Forgive yourself.
It's only right. Accept yourself. It is your right. Forgive all those who did you wrong, they only did what you passed on.
Forgive yourself for being weak, we all feel weak before we've strength. Nothing anyone can take is worth a worried care.
Nothing anyone can steal is worth a ruffled hair. Does the rich man have a carefree life? People want what he has, he has
to keep it out of sight. Does the poor man live to be happy and well? Or do each of us create the place that we dwell? Forgive
yourself. It's only right. Accept yourself. It is your right. You yourself are one with this miracle of life. You yourself
create all your misery and strife.
FRIENDS COME AND GO (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published by HT Music, BMI
Guess I could turn off the news, spend some time with things I choose, let the world go in
it's way, live to love another day. Guess I should hang up the phone, suddenly, I feel alone. She doesn't care about a thing,
and I don't want the phone to ring. Friends come and go like the wind! Love breaks a heart now and then! Friends come and
go like the wind! Sixty channels on TV, endless rows of books to read, countless things to buy and sell. Is it heaven? Is
it hell? Every flower stands alone. Every cell contains a soul, all related to the whole, all are quite replaceable. Friends
come and go like the wind! Love breaks a heart now and then! Friends come and go like the wind! Friends come and go, they
come and go, they co, they come and go like the wind. They come and go, they come come and go like the wind. Friends come
and go, they come and go. Friends come and go
WHO OWNS THE SUN (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published by HT Music, BMI
Who own the sun? Who owns the rain? Who owns the sky? Who owns the plains?
Who owns the sun, who owns the wind, who owns he rain? Who owns the sky, who owns the sea, who owns these things? Why do I
find it hard to live when everything is freely given? When God gets lonely, when God gets lonely, when God gets lonely does
He cry? When God gets weary, when God gets weary, when God gets weary does He sigh? Are you the one who made the sameness
in your life? Are you the one who feels the pain beneath the sky? Why do we find it hard to live when everything is freely
given? Who owns the sun? Who owns the rain? Who owns the sky? Who owns the plains?
AIN’T NO CURE (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published by HT Music, BMI
Hey, little girl, if it's all right with you; roll on, roll on, roll on, roll away those blues.
I know it will be tight, and I know we’ll be all right. So, hey, little girl, if it's all right with you. Hey, little
girl, I'll tell you what we're gonna do. There ain't no cure for the wandering mood, but to move your feet when they ask you
to. There ain't no cure for the summertime cold and there ain't no cure for growing old. I could write and you could sit and
knit, but what in the name of grace is the use in it? I know it will be tight, and I know we'll be all right. So hey, little
girl, if it's all right with you. Hey, little girl, I'll tell you what we're gonna do. Ain't no cure! Ain't no cure! Ain't
no cure!
MOON ON THE MOUNTAIN (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published by HT Music, BMI
I never thought about what time it was ... never ever really cared too much. You took a chance,
a chance on me. I'm not gonna let you down, you see. I thought I knew what I would be ... sometimes life surprises me. I thought
it all would be so cut and dry, hoped my every little love would fly. You’re like the moon on the mountain. You’re
like like the the wind in the tree. You’re like like the rain in the summer heat, your presence strengthens me. It isn't
pain that makes me cry. It isn't hurt that makes me sigh. It isn't grief that makes me sad. It isn't joy that makes me glad.
The pleasant passing of a worthwhile day ... quiet moments in the trips we take, magic feelings that we cannot buy, these
are things that make me try. You’re like the moon on the mountain. You’re like the wind in the tree. You’re
like rain in the summer heat, your presence strengthens me. I never thought about what time it was ... I never thought about
what time it was ... never ever really cared too much. You took a chance, a chance on me. I'm not gonna let you down, you
see. You took a chance on me.
GOOD ALL OVER (Kenneth Harper Finton) Published by HT Music, BMI
I dream in the night and by day, in the bright, sunny sky, feel the world turning 'round.
I lie in my bed and I open my head to the sound that the morning brings 'round. Deep beneath the golden sun, there's a feeling
coming warm to my mind and I feel together, out of the dreams that we dreamed together, one came true. One came through! And
I thought it so insane. In this game I came to win and to lose in such quick succession, I wanted out of the whole progression
bounding me, rounding me. Out of the dreams that we dreamed in the morning, one came true. Out of the love that we feel for
the morning, one came through. I feel good, all over, I feel love, all over, I feel good, all over I'm alive. I really, really,
really, really want you to know. I really, really, really, really love you so. I really, really, really, really want you to
know. I really, really, really, really love you so.
